Here Lately...

It's been a while since my last post! Life is crazy and blogging has taken a backseat.....but sewing hasn't, so I'm about to just do a picture drop of everything I've made in the last couple of months. Contact me if you're interested in anything and I can make one for you!

Winnie Dress (this one was made as an AU game day dress which pained me but I made it anyway...RTR!)

Junebug Dress

Sarah top (bow is in the back) and ruffle shorts

Summer bubble with matching bucket hat

Smocked bishop dress and slip. I tried a new technique on the slip to do the edges using a wide blind hem stitch on my machine and it worked great! It gives the slip a pretty scalloped look but without the trouble of using a scalloped stitch and then cutting cutting cutting.....this is much faster!

Anna Day Gown (loved this in pink)

Here are some pretty baby things I just finished.......

Now for a little DIY action.....

I made these picture tiles as some of my Christmas presents for family. They turned out really cute! Very easy to make. You can do it too! Here's what you need:

Tiles from Home Depot/Lowes
Scrapbook paper from Michaels
Cute picture
Mod podge
Picture stands

To put it together just cut the scrapbook paper and picture to the size you want it. Spread mod podge all over the tile and stick the paper on. Then stick the picture on top of that. Spread the glue all over the top and sides. I spread mine pretty thick....you don't want any cracks to show. Let it dry until you can see the picture clearly. Spread on another coat. Let it dry and....wahlah!! Cute little present for someone special. :)

WT and I made a headboard!! I think the hardest part was driving around to all the different stores to collect our supplies. Once we started putting it together it was easy peasy. Definitely a 2 person job though. I'm still waiting on my nailhead trim kit to do the nailheads around the headboard. I found this kit so I don't have to hammer them in individually....I've heard that's a pain!

I think it turned out great!! There are tons of tutorials out there if you just google "diy headboard." We used this one: http://runninglawyer.blogspot.com/2011/08/diy-upholstered-headboard.html

Fishnets and Onesies

Sorry for the hiatus folks! This is my busiest time of year with making presents for my family and friends, clients, parties and not to mention seeing this guy......who no one at our house likes very much but he doesn't look too happy either if you ask me.

Someone please explain why this outfit is appropriate for one of Santa's helpers.........

We liked Mrs. Claus much better.

Here's a shot of Sally's Christmas dress. We made Eleanor one to match it. It was a group effort....one of my sweet friends did this beautiful smocking, my mom did the french knots and halos and then I put it together. Apparently this smocking plate is pretty time consuming. But it looks great!

Smocked bishop dress

They wore it to church today

I tried the applique template on some onesies that I saw on pinterest (link on previous post) and gave them to a friend who just had a baby. I thought they looked great! Great use for extra fabric and very easy to do.

That's all for us until the new year! Merry Christmas!!!

Pssssst...........These are the most deeeelish christmas cookies ever!!! William said they would "make a chiuaua break a log chain" (harharhar)....I found them on pinterest and the recipe is here

Winter Bishops

I was asked by an old friend to make some bishop dresses for her sweet little girl recently. We decided to go with featherwale corduroy for one of them with a pretty geometric design. This fabric is great for little ones because it's not too heavy and is so soft!

Winter Bishop

The other dress was to be a white dress with a Christmas smocking design. I was working on the hem of this one (which is the last step) when I realized....there were 3 holes in the front!! Ah!!! This dress is all one piece and is not lined so there's no way to fix it other than starting over. I asked myself....how did this happen? And then came my answer......ELEANOR! I remembered how she was caught making a hole in my sofa the other day with scissors and the holes in the dress look exactly the same as the one in the sofa. (see exhibits A & B below) I know you're thinking....how does she keep getting her hands on scissors? But I'm telling you SHE'S SO SNEAKY! She can climb, open doors, deadbolts, drawers and undo child locks. Nothing is SAFE!!

Exhibit A....

Exhibit B....

Here's how our conversation about it went:
"Eleanor, do you see these holes in the dress mommy made?" -me
"Yes." -E
"Do you know how they got there?" -me
"Yes." -E (sounds and looks guilty already)
"Well, how did they get there?" -me
"Ummmmmm.....maybe DADDY DID IT?!?" -E

I explained to her how hard mommy worked on the dress and asked her how she would feel if I cut holes in her treasured "art work." She said she would be sad and promised not to make any more holes anywhere. I guess all I can do now is have a glass of wine and start over!

*Side note*
To top this day off my 7 month old started doing this today.....

IS THERE NO REST FOR THE WEARY!?!?

A little bit of fall....

For all of you who plan ahead (not me) here are some great outfits for fall!! I'm working on a couple of cute fall dresses too and will post them soon.

Smocked Bishop top and pants. I love this pattern because it's really a dress but when it gets too short we can just add pants and VOILA....stretch it for 2 winters!

This was my favorite smocked top and pants of E's. This picture was mid-jump house jumping at her 2nd birthday party but was the best picture I could find. She was sooo busy that day!

Smocked A-line top and pants. This is also a recycled dress....I just made matching pants!

Smocked Game day Bishop Dress (Rooooooooollllll Tide!) hehe

Smocked Bishop Dress. I made this out of a tiny baby corduroy so it was nice and warm and so pretty!

Sam Overalls
This was the greatest play outfit for us when E was little. I made a couple of these out of a nice baby flannel material and it was perfect for her crawling around the house and going to Mothers Day Out. (it can also be a dress)

This is the best pic I could find of her in the Sam Overalls...getting into my mom's Tupperware drawer of course :)

Baby Stuff

Sewing for teeny tiny babies is my specialty. The fabric requirement is minimal...as well as the time and I have always loved miniature things for some reason.

Lace Bonnet
This is my little Sally on the day she was baptized. I've always wanted blue eyes like that! :)

Knitted Hat

Baby Sacque (my little sally came home in this one)
*note* I did not do the embroidery, my sweet mom did and she says her services aren't for sale only for love :)

Smocked Bishop Day Gown

Anna Day Gown
This can be made really lacy for girls or simpler for baby boys. Such a sweet little dress!
