Day Gown and a Bonnet

It's pouring down rain outside and Sally's napping so I finally have some time to write a post! I have a good friend who asked me to make a day gown for her little niece who's due this January. I have never done embroidery before but decided that this was a good time to learn. I really enjoyed it! A little like smocking in that you can take it anywhere and do it while watching a movie but very different too since it's so detailed.

Close up on the embroidery.....I'm not very good at working my camera though :)

I have to talk about my trip to the store yesterday! I love coupons and have always used them but after a couple of $150 plus grocery bills I have really gotten determined to do a better job of planning and making my grocery bills as low as possible. This trip took about 3 hours of planning. I found most of the coupons in the Sunday newspaper (which I always get 2 of) and at online coupon sites like this one: http://thekrazycouponlady.com/. I have a Publix and a Winn-Dixie very close to my house so I looked through the circulars for both of these, planned my menu and matched what was on sale with my coupons....getting even more off! So here's how I did....I think I can do better next time though. My goal is to save more than I spend like on that show about Extreme Couponing. :)

Total that I Paid: $85.47
Total Savings: $84.01

Here's everything I got (minus my free stuff). Thank you to my assistant Sally for being very patient and entertaining herself in the store with the free baby cookies.

This is everything that I got totally for FREE!!!

Booyahhh!! Let me know if you have questions about using coupons or store policies. I'd be happy to help you save too!!

  1. That gown is beautiful, especially the bonnet! Great work on the coupons. Mine just end up on the floor spread through out the house thanks to my assistant who loves to sort papers
